The procedure for registration of the birth certificate and the phenomenon of paternity
If the parents are officially married (appearance of one of the parents is possible):
- The statement of the mother or father of the child;
- The original certificate of the medical institution about the birth of a child;
- Passports of the parents of the child;
- Marriage certificate of the child’s parents or a certified copy thereof;
- A certified copy of the departure sheet in which the applicant is inscribed (for CIS countries);
- If one of the child’s parents is a citizen of a foreign state, it is also necessary to provide notarized consent of the father (or mother) of the child who is a citizen of the foreign state to issue a birth certificate of the Republic of Uzbekistan and obtain citizenship of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Paternity determination:
The paternity of a person who is not married to the child’s mother is established upon the joint application of the mother and the person who plead the child’s father to the consular office.
If birth registration and paternity are established at the same time, the child’s surname is assigned immediately by the parents ’agreement, the father’s details are recorded according to the application submitted. In this case, the statement of a single mother is not required.
The establishment of paternity by proxy is not allowed.
If the parents are in a civil marriage (with the establishment of paternity), the attendance of both parents in a consular office is obligatory:
- Statement of the mother or father of the child;
- The joint statement of the mother and father of the child on the establishment of paternity (the established form of the application by the consul);
- The original certificate of the medical institution about the birth of a child;
- Passports of the parents of the child;
- If one of the child’s parents is a citizen of a foreign state, it is also necessary to provide notarized consent of the father (or mother) of the child who is a citizen of the foreign state to issue a birth certificate of the Republic of Uzbekistan and obtain citizenship of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
If the mother of the child is a loner (in case of non-recognition of paternity over the child) (mother’s attendance is required):
- The application of the mother of the child (the established application form from the consul);
- The original certificate of the medical institution about the birth of a child or its certified copy;
- Passport of the mother of the child.
