Meeting with Chinese delegation

On March 2, 2020, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov met with the delegation of the People’s Republic of China led by Yang Jiechi, member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, Director of the Central Foreign Affairs Commission Office of China.

During the discussion of the multifaceted Uzbekistan – China agenda, the parties reiterated their interest in further strengthening and expanding a comprehensive strategic partnership in the spirit of mutual respect and trust. The readiness to implement joint infrastructure, production, cultural, humanitarian and other projects under Belt and Road initiative was emphasized.

Special attention was paid to the prospects of increasing trade, economic and investment cooperation. In this context, proposals for cooperation on transport and communication issues were considered.

The schedule of Uzbekistan - China Forum of the Regions and other joint events at various levels this year was discussed at the meeting.

The parties also considered practical aspects of cooperation within the UN, SCO and other international structures.
