US Secretary of State to visit Uzbekistan

On January 5, 2020, the US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo arrives in Tashkent.

The delegation of the US State Department will be received by the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The program of the visit provides for bilateral negotiations at the MFA of Uzbekistan, at the negotiations it is planned to discuss the implementation of the agreements reached at the Uzbek-American high level meeting on May 16, 2018 in Washington, and other topical issues on the mutual agenda, as well as exchange views on international problem.

On January 6, the US Secretary of State will also participate in the “C5+1” Ministerial Meeting of “Central Asia – USA” formation. The parties are expected to discuss regional cooperation, in particular, ways to intensify economic cooperation, strengthen border security, as well as the integration of Afghanistan into the trade and transport systems of Central Asia.
